JVR to mark birthday with outreach mission

TALISAY City Mayor Johnny V. delos Reyes will mark his 60th birthday with a medical outreach and feeding program in barangay Bulacao, Talisay City starting at 8 a.m today.

“I want to bring City Hall to them. If they have queries, they can freely ask the department heads. I am offering my birthday to God and to the people,” said de los Reyes.

Despite the criticisms recent leveled at him, the mayor said he remains committed to serving his constituents and reaching out to the opposition Alayon party to implement his programs.

“I can barely rest…I’m doing these things so my critics don’t have anything to say against me,” delos Reyes said.

The mayor earlier vowed to remove his relatives from his office and Talisay City Hall.

He admitted that he picked some relatives to his circle for security reasons. His son, Talisay City Administrator John Yre delos Reyes said there are people who claim to be the mayor’s consultants and are issuing executive orders without his knowledge.

Hazel Bathan, head of Talisay City Hall’s Human Resource Management said the mayor has the discretion to hire relatives in confidential posts so long as it doesn’t exceed seven personnel.
