MANILA, Philippines—President Benigno Aquino III has allocated P170 million to bankroll needed repairs of police stations across the country, Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas said Friday.
Under Oplan Dignity, Roxas said each of the roughly 1,700 police stations nationwide will get at least P100,000 budget as part of the Maintenance and Other Operational Expenses to pay for needed repairs inside their offices, such as the repainting of walls, leaks in the ceiling, and broken toilet.
He said the Department of Interior and Local Government will provide police stations a menu of possible repairs that they can avail of for their offices.
“This P100,000 will be given to each police station to provide them a better place to work at. With this, we can expect better service from them,” Roxas said.
The budget allocation, however, may be adjusted based on the size of a police station.
He said the distribution of funds is expected to be finished within the year.
