Ironman carboloading party set tonight at Shangri-La resort

THE more than 2,000 participants of the 2013 Cobra Energy Drink Ironman 70.3 Philippines will have a carboloading party tonight at the Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa golf course.

Two days before the swim-bike-run event, competitors will be treated to a pasta party unlike any other, vowed event organizers.

Among the special treats lined up tonight include a live dance performance meshed with a laser show on a stage using stainless steel bleachers, special lighting direction, and 30 power pop jazz dancers from the University of Cebu. Cebu’s top violinist, Jake Gacang will perform along with Cebuano DJ sensation Joachim Go.

To be used as an anthem for the show is the Eurovision 2012 Music Festival best song Euphoria by Loreen because, according to organizers, the song speaks of togetherness and aiming high. The lyrics of the song will be flashed onscreen so participants can sing along.

Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. while the show will start by 7:45 p.m. and expected to end by 8 p.m. to allow participants an early rest. A seven-minute fireworks display will conclude the activity. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
