Lubiano, who was with her husband, was assisted by Red Cross volunteers Michaela San Luis and Solicitor Mercado.

“It seems like the couple didn’t really anticipate that the woman will deliver her baby today,” the spokesman said.

Red Cross volunteers are deployed in every LRT station as part of railway’s existing agreement with charity group, Cabrera noted.

Aside from Red Cross volunteers, LRT has its own medical team, Cabrera said.

Even the security guards are trained to provide first aid treatment,he said.

“They are trained, capable and equipped,” Cabrera said.
