CEO’s to test Ironman endurance
The CEO category is a new classification that has been added to the 2013 Cobra Energy Drink IronMan 70.3 Philippines slated Aug. 4 starting and ending at the Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa in Lapu-Lapu City.
Just like the other categories in the half IronMan race, the CEO category will also have the men’s and women’s divisions in two age groups—Under 50 and 50 Above.
The category is open to chief executive officers, presidents or managing directors of companies that earn $5 million in annual revenue.
Sunrise Events Inc. (SEI) president Wilfred Steven Uytengsu said that the CEO category is actually a regular fixture in other IronMan 70.3 races. But it has been added only this year to the Cobra IronMan 70.3 Philippines.
SEI general manager Princess Galura said they decided to offer the category to accommodate the CEOs who want to race despite having less time for training and practice owing to the demands of their work.
She said that because of their jobs, they cannot dedicate their time for training. This means they won’t stand a chance to compete with top-caliber triathletes in regular categories.
