CDO probers focus on blast victims

MANILA, Philippines –Investigators are looking into the background of all victims of Friday’s explosion in Cagayan de Oro City to find out the possible motive behind the attack that killed eight people and injured over 30, Interior Secretary Mar Roxas said on Monday.

In an interview with Radyo Inquirer 990AM, Roxas said the profiles of all victims were being checked to determine the principal target, if there is any, in the blast that hit Kyla’s Bistro in Limketkai Center in Cagayan de Oro City around 11 p.m.

“[Ito] ay para malaman kung sino principal target may. [Or] May tina-target ba na tao dahil sa away negosyo, pulitika, babae . . . hindi natin alam. Kung wala naman, terrorism ito para mag hasik ng takot pangamba,”  he said.

Roxas said a security camera in the area didn’t show the exact location of the blast, but caught only the people going in and out of Limketkai. The footage will be shown to the blast victims.

Meanwhile, Roxas quoted city Mayor Oscar Moreno as saying that there were phone-in threats prior to the incident, but didn’t seem to be connected to the blast.
