/ 11:55 PM July 27, 2013

Low-income residents in Quezon City’s second district may soon receive medical and health services at a three-story hospital to be built by the city government in the Batasan Hills area.

Mayor Herbert Bautista said the hospital would be ready by next year and would particularly benefit residents in the district which covers  communities along Commonwealth Avenue, Barangays Bagong Silangan, Holy Spirit, Payatas and Batasan Hills.

The construction of the new hospital would be the city government’s priority under his second term as mayor, Bautista said in a statement Saturday.

“Having a hospital in the area will provide better health services to our constituents there. No need to rush to hospitals (that are from where they live), such as East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC), in case of emergencies,” he said.

The mayor noted that the EAMC, Philippine Heart Center, Lung Center of the Philippines, National Kidney Hospital, Philippine Children’s Medical Center and the Philippine Veteran’s Memorial Medical Center are mostly located in District 4. Julie M. Aurelio
