SBP tourney starts

ACTION in the Small Basketeers of the Philippines division kicks off today starring the defending champion University of San Carlos (USC) as it battles Don Bosco at the start of the Cebu leg of the 2013 BEST Center Twin Tournament at the USC North gym along Mango Avenue in Cebu City.

The USC-Don Bosco tiff is slated at 8:30 am after a brief opening ceremony.

Also on tap for today is the game between the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) and the University of the Visayas (UV), still in the SBP class.

USC is out to retain as Cebu champions once again and make it all the way back to the national finals for a shot at winning that coveted national title.

The annual SBP/Passerelle Tournament is organized by the Basketball Efficiency and Scientific Training Center, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary. It was founded in 1978 as training center or school for young basketball players. Its summer clinic and annual tournament are the biggest and longest running in the country./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
