MANILA, Philippines—President Benigno Aquino III has appointed Josefina Patricia Magpale-Asirit commissioner of the Energy Regulatory Commission for a seven-year term of office until 2020.
Prior to her appointment, Magpale-Asirit, a lawyer, was an undersecretary of the Department of Energy (DOE).
She is a niece of Cabinet Secretary and former Energy Secretary Rene Almendras.
“Yes, she was formerly in DOE as an undersecretary,” said deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte.
