Estrada: Bus ban in Manila not absolute

MANILA, Philippines—Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada on Friday clarified in an interview over Radyo Inquirer 990AM that the bus ban in Manila is not absolute.

“Only colorum buses are not allowed in Manila. Franchised buses are still allowed in Manila,” Estrada said.

Estrada said they only wanted to regulate, not prohibit, buses from entering Manila as well as regulate the loading and unloading of passengers.

“The (owners of these) buses must understand that their drivers should load and unload passengers only in designated areas, not just anywhere,” he said.

Provincial and city buses without terminals in Manila are no longer allowed to enter the city following the implementation of a City Ordinance on bus regulation to ease traffic in the city.
