Knights out to extend run

Games today (The Arena)
4 p.m. – Letran vs. Arellano
6 p.m. – Lyceum vs. St. Benilde
THE Letran Knights will try to buck the tragedy that befell their squad and win one for their fallen comrade as they battle the Arellano University Chiefs today in the 89th NCAA men’s basketball tournament at the Arena in San Juan City.
Letran’s reserve guard and Cebuano Franz Dysam was involved in a shooting incident last Saturday following their, 61-53 win over Lyceum, that claimed the life of the latter’s girlfriend, Joanne Sordan.
Dysam, a former ace of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation Baby Panthers in the Cesafi, was shot six times but is already in stable condition following an operation to remove the bullets last Monday.
The Knights will try to set all that aside and remain unbeaten against the Chiefs, who are aiming to bounce back from their, 66-73 loss to Perpetual Help.
In the second game, the St. Benilde Blazers continue to chase their first win when they battle the Lyceum Pirates. The Blazers have suffered one heartbreaking loss after another, the last inflicted by the San Sebastian Stags, 78-80, which dropped them to 0-5 (win-loss). /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
