Ex-cop gunned down in Sorsogon
LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines—A retired policeman was gunned down by a suspected hit man of the New People’s Army in his house in Matnog, Sorsogon, Wednesday morning, police said.
Virgilio Miguel Garra, a native of Matnog who retired as senior police officer 1, was on the yard of his house in Barangay Gadgaron, a few meters away from a checkpoint of the Highway Patrol Group, when the gunman approached and shot him at close range at 7 a.m., said Inspector Malou Calubaquid, Bicol police spokesperson.
Investigation showed Garra sustained two bullet wounds in the head from a .45-caliber gun.
Calubaquid said Garra was formerly assigned to the National Capital Regional Police Office.
