GROUND and Pound VI lightweight champion Lordy Rey “Punisher” Yamit of Mindanao is eager to step inside the ring once again for his first ever title defense in the Ground and Pound Championships VII: Resolution on Aug. 31 at the Cebu Coliseum.

Yamit, who won the title last year against Cebuano Mark “Terminator” Araneta via technical knockout, said he is very happy that he was given a chance to defend his title against a veteran Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) from Talisay City in Kru Robert “Maldito” Serdone, the chief of the Red Neos Iron Gladiators Muay Thai in the co-main event.

“I am very hungry for another fight, said Yamit. “I will make sure that I will bring back the belt to Mindanao.”

Yamit started his training last June 5. He said he is improving his stamina to make sure that he can last for five rounds against Serdone.

“I am going to beat him, that’s for sure,” he said. “No matter what, no matter if I end up bloodied, I will defend this belt no matter how many rounds it will take.”

But he isn’t getting too complacent. In fact, he said he respects Serdone because he knows that his opponent is training hard to get the title.
