MANILA, Philippines—A 17-year-old girl was allegedly stabbed and wounded early Monday by a fellow teenager, who received heavy criticism over her dance moves during a barangay (village) revelry for the feast day of St. Joseph in Manila.

The victim, whose name is withheld on account of her minor age, of Molave Street in Tondo, was stabbed in the right shoulder and remained confined at the Ospital ng Tondo (Tondo Hospital).

Her alleged attacker, a 16-year-old girl of Trinidad Street in Tondo, was arrested in follow-up operations conducted by village officials and the Manila Police District (MPD) Jose Abad Santos station 7.

Balderas said that before the incident, the teenagers were attending a dance organized for the patron saint’s feast day celebration when they taunted each other over their dance moves.

The case investigator pointed out that the two girls argued until the 16-year-old girl, who was armed with a fan knife, stabbed the older teenager.

The victim was brought to the nearest hospital by her neighbors while the knife-wielding teenager fled.  Officials of Barangay 205 Zone 18 several minutes later caught up with the suspect and turned her over to police custody.

Balderas said that the suspect was brought to the care of the local Department of Social Welfare and Development.
