Police claims breakthrough in Mabolo rape-slay

Police investigators claim they have already identified the assailants in the rape-slay of a 19-year-old last Saturday in barangay Mabolo, Cebu City.

Chief Inspector Romeo Santander, chief of City Intelligence Banch (CIB) said that they also invited some persons to shed light on the crime.

The body of Queennie Mary Ariesgado, a 3rd year working student of the Zapatera Night High School was found in a vacant lot a few meters across the Mabolo Police Station. Ariesgado, a resident of barangay Luz had blunt injuries on her head and face. Her genitals were bloodied and her short pants and underwear pulled down to her knees when found./Correspodent Chito O. Suspect in rape of 6-yr-old arrested

A 22-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a 6-year-old girl in barangay Cogon East, Medellin town, northern Cebu.

The suspect  identified as Ariel Booc, was caught by relatives of the girl turned over to the police.

According to the police, the relatives of the child were working in the sugarcane fields when they heard a child’s cry of distress.

When they went found the area from which the child’s voice came from, they found the child lying inside a shanty , conscious but feeling weak and bleeding..

When the police arrived at the barangay hall, Booc had already been apprehended and mauled by relatives said PO3 Marlon Villarin of the Medellin Police Office.

Booc, however denied the allegation and said that he did not remember anything because he was drunk, said Villarin./Correspondent Joy Cherry Quito

Two dead in Sunday shooting

Two persons were killed in separate shooting incidents in the province of Cebu last Sunday.

In barangay Cogon East, Carmen town, a 16-year-old boy was shot dead by motorcycle-riding assailants past 8 p.m.

Aljhoed Doños Bosaka sustained two gunshot wounds in his chest. He died while being treated at Danao Provincial Hospital.

Police investigation revealed that Bosaka was walking with his friends along the road when two men on board a black motorcycle arrived and shot the victim.

Carmen Police Office investigator SPO# Renerio Masucol, Jr. said fraternity rivalry may be the motive of the killing.

Meanwhile, police said illegal drugs trade is believed to be the motive behind the killing of Joseph Barocaboc Dizon, 29 in barangay Ibabao, Cordova town.

Police said that Dizon was walking in an alley past 11 a.m. when he was shot dead.

Dizon sustained a lone gunshot wound at the back of his head.

Four packs of suspected shabu were recovered from the victim’s pocket, while a .45 caliber shell was recovered at the crime scene./Correspondent Joy Cherry S. Quito

1 dead, 1 injured in Lapu shootings

A man died while another is recuperating in the hospital in separate shooting incidents in Lapu-Lapu City.

Martin Beltran, 43, died in the Mactan Doctors Hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds in the abdomen and right arm  in sitio Mangal, barangay Punta Engano, Lapu-Lapu City last Sunday afternoon. Police identified the suspect as Ferdinand Castro, a neighbor of the victim.

In another incident, Ian Rex Cosep, 21, of purok Papaya, barangay Gun-ob was hit in the body when a neighbor went berserk during a drinking spreee.

The suspect Emigdio Dagatan, 53, had an altercation with Ian’s father Bienvenido. When Dagatan opened fire, Cosep was hit in the left shoulder.  Responding police arrested Dagatan and confiscated from him a 9mm Beretta pistol with 13 live bullets.

Cosep is now recuperating in the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital./Correspondent Norman V. Mendoza

Pa takes bullet for son

A father landed in hospital after a bullet intended for his son hit him.

Ireneo Amoguis, 59 suffered a gunshot wound in his left chest after the assailant identified only as Richard shot his son, Gerald Paul, 31, last Sunday afternoon in Nivel Hills, barangay Lahug, Cebu City.

Police said Gerard Paul went out of their house to check on the cause of their dog’s barking.

Once outside, the gunman shouted “Lumabas ka pa…” then fired his gun. However, it was the elder Amoguis who was hit.

The suspect immediately fled on a motorcycle.

The elder Amoguis is now recuperating in a private hospital in Cebu City.

Shabu pushers fall

Two drug peddlers were arrested by Talisay City Police during a buy-bust operation in barangay Tanke, Talisay City last Sunday.

The team led by SPO1 Edgar Causon conducted the operation. Authorities successfully apprehended , Romelito Antica alyas Lito and Alejandro Gabison, 36, in a buy-bust operation.

PO1 Marlon Anabeza of Talisay City Police Office said they seized 45 small sachets containing white crystalline substance believed to be methemphetamine hydrochloride,or  shabu from the suspects./Correspondent Gabriel C. Bonjoc

Teen loses P10k cellphone to budol-budol

A teenager lost her mobile phone worth about P10,000 to con artists in A. Del Rosario Street, barangay Guizo, Mandaue City

Lorimae Ybanez, 17, a resident of barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City was standing in front of her school when two persons approached her to ask for directions to Erick Trucking Services.

They said they needed to borrow her cellphone in order to locate the trucking company as they need help because their vehicle bogged down. She was given a sack of money in exchange for her phone.

She then went to the Investigation and Detection Management Branch (IDMB) of the Mandaue City Police, after the two failed to come back after two hours./Reporter Jucell Marie P. Cuyos
