The San Sebastian Stags claimed their second straight win without head coach Topex Robinson as they defeated the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, 81-74, in the 89th NCAA men’s basketball tournament yesterday at the Arena in San Juan City.
Jamil Ortuoste, CJ Perez, Leo de Vera and Bradwyn Guinto all starred in the crucial win that extended the Stags’ winning run to three games.
Even more impressive was the fact that two of these wins came without the presence of Robinson, who is currently in the United States as part of the Alaska Aces’ celebratory trip for their title win in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Perez had 20 points, 15 rebounds and four assists while Ortouste added 16 points, five rebounds and four assists to push the Stags to fourth place in the standings with their fourth win in six games./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
