The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Central Visayas is now on its ninth year in the search for the Model OFW Family of the Year.
The award recognizes the achievements of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families in managing the impact of overseas employment in family life. It also exemplifies the best practices of OFW families.
One Model OFW Family from the land-based category and one from sea-based category will be chosen from the region to compete in the national finals this year.
Religious organizations, non-government organizations or People’s organizations, local government units, and community-based socio-civic organizations can nominate a family from Region 7 whose head is a land-based or sea-based OFW, either married, single or main provider.
The OFW must have a minimum of four years work experience overseas and can either be presently working or formerly working abroad.
The nominator of the national winner for both land-based and sea-based categories will receive a cash prize of P50,000.
The criteria for judging are wholesomeness of the OFW family, civic or community involvement, success in OFW and family members’ education or profession and success in managing the family finances.
Nomination forms may be obtained at the OWWA regional office on the second floor of the Department of Labor and Employment building on Gorordo Avenue corner Gen. Maxilom Avenue, Cebu City.
