Teenager admits killing half-sister in Toledo

POLICE arrested a 14-year-old boy for the death of a woman who was found with a hack wound in the forehead inside her house in barangay Magdugo, Toledo City, southwest Cebu.

Police said the boy, a half-brother of the victim, owned up to the crime.

Police said the victim’s missing cellphone led to the boy’s arrest.

The body of the woman was discovered by her sister-in-law past 7 a.m. Thursday.

The victim’s husband later informed the police that his wife’s cellphone was missing.

Police received information that the boy was seen with the cellphone ins possession while he was working in a store in the barangay’s public market.

Police tracked down the boy and later apprehended him on board a bus in a terminal past 4 p.m. yesterday.

Police said the boy was headed for Bohol province when he was apprehended.

The boy then led the police to the store where he kept the victim’s cellphone.

During police questioning, the boy admitted the crime.

“He admitted and regretted what he did,” said SPO3 Henry Acosta, investigator of the Toledo police.

Prior to the killing, Acosta said the victim and the boy argued after the victim caught the teenager allegedly stealing her necklace.

The boy lived in the victim’s house.

Police said the victim’s husband was at work in Cebu City during the crime.

Police said the boy will be turned over to social workers after the filing of charges against him./CORRESPONDENT JOY CHERRY S. QUITO
