JAKARTA—President Benigno Aquino III was given a 21-gun salute as he was officially welcomed here at the Merdeka Palace by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yuhohoyono on Tuesday morning.
Mr. Aquino and his party arrived at the palace at 9:53 a.m. (10:53 a.m. in Manila).
Yudhoyono greeted Aquino at the side of the palace as he stepped out of his car.
They then proceeded to a makeshift stage in front of the palace where a detachment of the Indonesian honor guard waited.
After the Indonesian and Philippine national anthems were played, Aquino trooped the line and then introduced his Cabinet members to Yudhoyono.
The Indonesian president did the same for his ministers.
Sighted among Mr. Aquino’s delegation was his former running mate, former Senator Manuel Roxas II.
