THE Police Regional Office 7 (PRO-7) said that they will serve the arrest warrant issued by the Sandiganbayan against former 4th district representative Clavel Asas-Martinez once it arrives.
As of yesterday, a copy of the warrant had not yet reached the PRO-7 in Cebu City, said Chief Supt. Generoso Cerbo Jr.,
Cerbo said that even if Martinez’s husband Bogo Mayor Celestino “Junie” Martinez Jr., is a member of the administration Liberal Party, the police will implement the law.
Cebu Daily News was unable to reach Martinez, who is expected to post bail in court.
The graft case against Martinez and six others stemmed from allegations that a P10 million allocation for the Girl Scout of Philippines’ anti-drug campaign was deposited in her personal account.
Bail was recommended at P40,000 each.
No bail was set for the charge of malversation charge.
The Sandiganbayan Second Division issued last Monday the warrant of arrest against Clavel, and six others over the alleged misuse of her Priority Development Assistance Fund in 2003.
Jaime Cabrera, clerk of court of the Second Division of the Sandiganbayan was quoted as saying that they sent the warrant of arrest to PRO-7 through mail last Monday.
