Police checked on the woman and found her sitting on the toilet bowl. A baby was found lying on the floor where the woman had placed him.

Policewomen cut the baby’s umbilical cord and wrapped him in a blanket until a rescue team arrived.

The baby was born prematurely since Rota was still seven months pregnant at the time.

The mother and child were were immediately brought to the Danao City district hospital. Both were reported in stable condition.

Rota’s live-in partner is working abroad.

She was arrested on Tuesday on charges of grave threats and malicious mischief filed by a neighbor.

JAPANESE FOUND DEAD

A 54-YEAR-OLD Japanese businessman was found dead with a bullet wound in the head in his rented house in Collinwood Subdivision in barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City Tuesday afternoon.

A .45 caliber pistol was found beside the body of Junichi Ikeuchi, police said.

The Japanese may have committed suicide since there were no signs of struggle in the house, police said.

“It is impossible for anybody to double lock the door while outside. There were no other openings in Ikeuchi’s room,” said Senior Supt. Lyndon Lawas, chief of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.

Lawas said according to Ikeuchi’s Japanese business partner, the victim had just withdrawn P200,000 for their business but he spent the money for something else.

Ikeuchi, who arrived in the country two months ago, was a co-owner of a KTV bar, police said.

Jimmy Fernandez, the manager of the KTV bar, told police that Ikeuchi would usually go to the bar.

Fernandez said the Japanese last went to the bar Saturday night.

Fernandez asked his son Joji Crisostomo to check on Ikeuchi in his house.

Crisostomo said he noticed flies swarming in a window and a foul odor when he arrived at the house.

Crisostomo then alerted the subdivision’s security guard who in turn called the police.
