Games today (The Arena)
4 p.m. – Perpetual vs. Arellano
6 p.m. – St. Benilde vs. San Sebastian
THE Perpetual Help Altas eye for a share of second place today as they battle the formidable Arellano University Chiefs even as the hard-luck St. Benilde Blazers gun for their first win against the San Sebastian Stags in the 89th NCAA men’s basketball tournament at the Arena in San Juan City.
The Altas currently stand at 3-1 (win-loss), just a half game behind the reigning champions San Beda Red Lions who tote a 4-1 record. At the top of the ladder though, are the Letran Knights with their unblemished 4-0 card. The Altas are coming off a, 71-66 win over the Lyceum Pirates, in a game that saw rookie Juneric Baloria rescue his team from the jaws of defeat with timely shots during crunchtime.
Likewise, Arellano hopes to keep on the winning track after they defeated the Mapua Cardinals, 65-59, in their last outing.
In the second game, the Blazers hope to finally break through the win column after four straight losses. So far, it has been one heartbreaking defeat after another for St. Benilde whose losses have come by a combined five points.
The Stags on the other hand, are trying to move up to the upper echelon in the standings. They currently hold an even 2-2 mark. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
