PO1 Rolando Gelido, Mandaue traffic investigator, said that according to Dominic Duja of the Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital, Chu was supposed to graduate from medicine this school year.

Chu was driving his electric bike along Ouano Avenue in sitio Tribunal at 9 a.m. when he was hit from behind by a Mitsubishi L300 van.

Poice said Chu was thrown off his bike and dragged a few meters by the van until it stopped.

The Malaysian was rushed to the Mandaue District Hospital where he later died due to severe injuries.

Police said Roger Pino, the driver of the van, claimed he was tailing the bicycle, which suddenly stopped.

Pino said he tried to evade the bike but couldn’t because there was another vehicle beside the van.
