DZIQ: Taal remains on alert level 2—Phivolcs
MANILA, Philippines—The Taal Volcano alert level will remain at level 2, a volcanologist from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said Monday.
In an interview with Radyo Inquirer, resident volcanologist Allan Mendoza Loza said there is no need to raise the alert level since there has been a decrease in levels of seismic activity recorded over the past four days.
Loza said Philvolcs recorded at least 12 weak volcanic earthquakes over the last 24 hours as of early Monday.
He added that the intense heat of the summer season has nothing to do with the volcanic earthquakes in Taal Volcano.
