MANILA, Philippines—The Supreme Court ordered the Commission on Elections and its head Sixto Brillantes Jr. to answer the petition of former senator Richard Gordon to cite the poll body for indirect contempt.

“The Court directed respondents to comment within 10 days from receipt of the resolution of the Court,” SC Information Chief Theodore Te said at a press conference.

Gordon, along with Bagumbayan-Volunteers for a New Philippines, said in a petition that the Comelec should be cited for indirect contempt for its failure to stay true to its commitment during the high court’s oral argument last May that it will allow the examination of the source code.

Source Code is the programing software of all the computerized voting machines that undertakes the counting, canvassing and transmission of votes on the day of the election.
