MANILA, Philippines—Tropical depression “Isang” slowed down as it moved towards Isabela-Cagayan area midday Tuesday.
The cyclone was last observed 280 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center. From a speed of 19 kph, it was now moving at 13 kph west northwest, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
Signal No. 1 remained hoisted over the following areas:
- Ilocos Norte
- Ilocos Sur
- Abra
- Ifugao
- Cagayan
- Calayan Group of Islands
- Babuyan Group of Islands
- Isabela
- Quirino
- Aurora
- Mt. Province
- Kalinga
- Apayao
“Isang” will enhance the southwest monsoon and will bring light to moderate rains and thunderstorms over Mimaropa, Calabarzon, Bicol Region and Western Visayas.
Moderate to heavy rains (5-15 mm) were seen within 300 km diameter of Isang. Residents in areas under storm signal were alerted of flashfloods and landslides.
“Isang” was forecast over the vicinity of Isabela area by Wednesday morning; 200 km northwest of Aparri, Cagayan by Thursday morning; and 500 km northwest of Aparri by Friday morning.
