A 28-year-old call center agent who was shot by an unidentified man in Pasig City died in the hospital early Sunday.
Senior Police Officer 1 Michael Espares, case investigator, said Gaddard Espiritu was declared dead on arrival at the Pasig General Hospital.
Espiritu, who was driving his car, had just reached One Oasis condominium on Ortigas Ave. Extension in Barangay (village) Sta. Lucia when he was shot around 3 a.m.
Behind car
According to SPO1 Arjan Adriano, a man alighted from a cab behind the victim’s car and approached Espiritu, who was with an officemate, Rhea Mae Balome.
The unidentified man then ordered the victim to step out of his car before shooting him, Adriano added.
Espiritu managed to drive the car for a few meters, eventually reaching the Floodway bridge.
No control
He then slumped on Balome’s left shoulder and was unconscious, thereby losing control of the wheel.
The car then hit a tricycle on the side of the road.
Balome later sought the help of a passerby who helped her take the victim to the hospital.
But Espiritu did not make it alive and was declared dead by hospital doctors at 3:40 a.m., Adriano said.
Espares said the motive for the killing has not yet been determined as investigators have yet to talk to Balome.
Prior to the incident, the police said Espiritu had dropped off three other female officemates in their respective houses.
