TWO projects undertaken by the Cebu City government in the South Road Properties (SRP) were supposedly encroaching on Talisay City’s jurisdiction, a Talisay City official said yesterday.
Talisay City Planning and Development Coordinator Christine Homez said the pre-cast repair and warehouse projects at the SRP don’t have development and building permits.
Another project, a Cebu port, is under litigation because Talisay City has a land claim on the area where the port is being built.
The two projects sit on part of the 44.9 hectares being claimed by the Talisay City government at the SRP.
“I will ask the city legal office to issue a cease and desist order against the developers who haven’t secured development and building permits,” Homez said.
Homez and her team checked the area and took photos of the sites where the name of Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama was displayed on a tarpaulin sign in the port during recent turnover rites.
Homez also said the opening of the Talisay City Fish Port will push through in due time despite the land issues in the reclaimed areas between barangays San Roque and Lagtang.
“It won’t affect the opening of the fish port since it will be contested,” she said. If the barangays fail to settle their claims, the revenue to be generated by the port project will be given to the Talisay City government.
“The opening of the Talisay City Fish port will proceed, however there will be income sharing,” Homez said in Cebuano.
