PB tackles anti-cyberporn ordinance

/ 10:55 AM July 15, 2013

THE Cebu Provincial Board (PB) on Monday passed on first reading a proposed ordinance that will punish money transfer shops proven to be cash conduits of persons engaged in cyber pornography.

Majority floor leader Arleigh Sitoy, author of the ordinance, said cybersex operations will be deterred if “accessories to the crime” such as money transfer outlets will be regulated.

Under the proposed ordinance, persons found guilty will face a fine of P100,000 or one year imprisonment, or both penalties, as prescribed by the court.

Aside from that, business permits of the offending business establishments will also be revoked.  /Correspondent Peter L. Romanillos
