“We are committed to abide by our obligation to pay what is due the city government on behalf of our joint venture development,” Filinvest First Vice President Tristan Las Marias said in a press statement.

Filinvest and the Cebu City Treasurer’s Office are scheduled to meet this month to reconcile books of account on the first quarter remittance as part of Cebu City’s share over the sale of residential condominium units at the SRP.

Acting City treasurer Emma Villarete said her office already sent an initial billing of P38 million for the city’s JV claims. The city government is expecting to earn P1 billion from Filinvest joint venture shares this year.

But so far, CTO has posted zero collections from its JV share. FLI confirmed receiving a copy of the CTO billing.

In turn, they already furnished the CTO last July 10 with their latest computation based on sales records.

Last year, Filinvest turned over the first dividends along and an advance payment amounting to P50 million to fulfill its obligation to its joint venture agreement with the Cebu City government.

Filinvest recently unveiled plans for the commercial and retail development at SRP.

Inventory of barangay equipment sought

AN inventory of rescue equipment bought for Cebu City’s barangays will be done to assess if they can still be used for emergencies.

Michael Ralota, Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) president, said the association owns three wood cutting chainsaws, two steel cutting chainsaws, four small and big generators sets and two plastic rescue boats.

These equipment were acquired using the P3 million ABC assistance from the city government last year, he said.

“We have to account for all the ABC properties. It is important to know where the equipment are so we will have something to use when a calamity strikes,” said Sto. Niño barangay captain Pancho Ramirez, ABC board member.

The ABC called for an inventory of the association’s emergency equipment during their second quarter general assembly held yesterday morning.

Ralota said the ABC earlier identified four barangays, two each in the north and south district, as caretakers of the emergency equipment.

These are barangays Mabini and Sto. Nino in the north district and Sudlon II and Pahina San Nicolas in the south district.
