Two days ago, I visited my new house in Mactan. It was the first official inspection of my unit before moving in. I had the whole day to inspect every nook and cranny and to tell the contractor what needs to be improved.
I stepped out of my house and looked over the entire village. By September, I will be in this new environment. It will be another change in my life. I will be leaving Cebu City which has been my home for six years. Leaving it behind is going to be hard.
Before 2007, I was a resident of the south. My first house was built there in 1995. In 2007, my American boss was kind enough to give me the privilege to rent a house in Cebu City. He couldn’t bear seeing me travelling to work daily for two hours or so. After seven years, I left behind the house my late husband and I built. It wasn’t easy.
The children grew up there and the house was a product of our toil. It was a house I spent blissful years with my husband even though it was for a year and half only. For the next five years, that house in Minglanilla was a part of my struggles as a widow trying to raise three young children. Leaving it behind was painful.
And now, in less than two months, I will be up north. My family said I should be given an honorary award for being a total Cebu resident —from south Cebu to central Cebu and then to north Cebu. Oh well, I can say I shall have experienced what it is to live in all parts of Cebu.
Some friends raise their eyebrows when they know I’m moving to Mactan. “Wow, so far!” is the common expression. Indeed it is. But I believe this is God’s Will and anything by His Will is always good no matter if the human senses can not understand.
It took me over a year to look for a new house. I sold my house in Minglanilla and renting a place in Cebu City has not been cheap. I have a new foreign boss now who was generous enough to turn the company funds for my house rentals to an allowance which I can rightfully spend on my own. Thus, I’d rather spend the money on a house of my own than continue renting.
I believe God guided me in that decision because it made sense. This is the time to harvest his blessings. So I scoured around for a good house and this latest one came so rightfully to me. Everything was in place for me to get it. Processing for its turn over fell into place. It was as if I ordered the house from the sky and it was given to my benefit.
God is bringing me to this new place and He had ordered things well for this. I hold on to His Word in 2 Corinthinians 4:15 which says: “All of this is for your benefit. And as God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory.”
I believe He will be using me again to spread His glory to this other side of Cebu in the same way He orchestrated my departure from my home in southern Cebu for another life in Cebu City. It was here that God moved me powerfully and I have been a changed person ever since.
So, I know He has another purpose for me in the northern side of Cebu this time. How? I don’t know. But I know I should be ready to tell Him, “Here I am. Send me.”
