American goes berserk in Mandaue hotel

An American tourist was arrested for disorderly conduct in a hotel in barangay Banilad, Mandaue City.

Alexander Scotie, a 36-year-old native of Florida, USA, was also accused of hitting a policeman who responded to the trouble alarm past noon yesterday.

Before the incident, Scotie was seen drinking in the bar of Lylie Hotel.

He later approached front desk attendant Charlyn Bebanco asking for a duplicate key of his room.

Bebanco said she asked the foreigner where was the key that was given to him.

Scotie got irked and challenged Bebanco and her female co-worker to a fistfight.

The American then went to his room and tried to force open the door by kicking it repeatedly.

Hotel staff then called the police.

PO3 Cedric Castillo asked Scotie to calm down but the foreigner kicked him in the left thigh.

The blow destroyed Castillo’s cellphone which was kept in his pocket.

Other policemen intervened and helped subdue the American.

Scotie tested positive for alcohol use at the Mandaue City District Hospital.

He was detained at the Casuntingan police station. He will be charged with resisting arrest and drunkenness, police said.
