DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines—A village chief and his wife were shot and wounded in Lingayen, Pangasinan Friday night.
Police said Jaime Fernandez, barangay captain of the Tumbar ward in Lingayen, and his wife, Feleciana, were on their way home on a motorcycle when they were attacked at 8:05 p.m. Friday near a gasoline station in Barangay Quibaol, also in Lingayen.
Fernandez was shot twice on the back while his wife was hit on the right arm. Both survived and were being treated at a local hospital.
Police said the assailant rode with two other unidentified men on a motorcycle as they fled after the assault.
