FORMER Cebu City congressman Tomas Osmeña and his wife Councilor Margot Osmeña left for Texas last Thursday for his bi-annual checkup.
Margot announced their 10-day travel to dispel speculation that her husband’s health was declining.
Tomas, a cancer survivor, had to deal with public doubts about his condition during the campaign season.
The councilor said she plans to rest and prepare for a meeting to be called by Mayor Michael Rama who will define the policies of his administration.
Rama called department employees to a meeting at the legislative building social hall so he could speak with them.
“I don’t think we have a choice (but heed the invitation,” Osmeña said.
She said contrary to Rama’s claims, the Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK) members have not been obstructionists.
“We are always willing to listen but when you speak of cooperation, it means meeting both ways,” she said.
Rama said in a separate interview that he still has to schedule a meeting with Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella and the council.
In his inaugural address, the mayor called on the BO-PK bloc to forget the animosity of the recent campaign and focus on work.
“I am happy that I have been able to communicate our policy directions with the employees but there is no more need for a presentation when I speak with the councilors,” he said. /Chief Of Reporters Doris C. Bongcac
