/ 07:59 AM July 11, 2013

Cancer survivor Zharvey Drex Gavin will join 44 other leukemia survivors and 33 leukemia fighters in a day of fun organized by the Kapwa Ko, Mahal Ko Foundation Inc. – Cebu for the beneficiaries of its “Pangga-a Sab Ko” program.

A program for children stricken with acute lymphoblastic leukemia will be held in SM City Cebu conference rooms A & B from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Gavin, 6, and the rest of the leukemia survivors and fighters thanked the people who supported them throughout their cancer journey.

Gavin was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2009 at the age of two. The shocking diagnosis meant years of pain from chemotherapy, and emotional and financial distress for Gavin and his parents.

Just like the 44 other cancer survivors, Gavin bravely faced the medication process until his last drop of chemotherapy.

The Kapwa Ko, Mahal Ko Foundation Inc. – Cebu salutes individuals for helping the children recover from cancer and other diseases.

Kapwa would also like to commend the support of its benefactors and partners — JEG Development Corp., Alpa Foundation Inc., Simon Enterprises, International Pharmaceuticals Inc., Sen. Tito Sotto, GMA Network, SM City Cebu, PCSO, Pagcor, Cebu City government, Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc., DepEd Central Visayas, the piggy bank host establishments, and all the anonymous donors who responded to the appeals from patients published in Cebu Daily News.

“With more people like them supporting a program that offers help and hope to children with cancer we are close to seeing more children given second chances at life,” said Kapwa in its press statement.
