COPS ROUND UP PIMPS

SEVEN women were arrested by policemen in a saturation drive Tuesday night in barangay Capitol Site, Cebu City.

Two were suspected as pimps while the others who were aged 19 to 25 years old were presented to a decoy as prostitutes.

Insp. Jesus Arong of the Investigation and Detective Management Branch (IDMB) of the Cebu City Police Office said the operation was made due to complaints of rampant prostitution in Juana Osmeña Extension.

A policeman, who posed as a customer, was approached by one of the pimps, who asked him if he wanted a woman.

The decoy customer was introduced to five women and handed P1,000 to the two pimps as payment before police moved in.

Charges of white slavery under Article 341 and Article 202 of the Revised Penal Code in relation to Republic Act 9208 or Anti-trafficking in Persons Act will be filed against the two suspected pimps.  /CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
