Globe Telecom signs partnership deal with Viber

/ 01:13 AM July 11, 2013

Globe Telecom said it sealed a partnership that would allow it to bundle offerings for prepaid subscribers with technology firm Viber, a service that allows users to send free texts and calls granted they have access to Wi-Fi or 3G networks, a statement yesterday showed.

“The partnership is in line with our strategy to explore new revenue streams beyond call and text services, becoming a full-fledged digital brand,” said Peter Bithos, senior adviser for consumer business at Globe Telecom.

In the statement, Globe said its prepaid GoUNLI25 is a bundled prepaid offer with unlimited texts and unlimited calls to Globe/TM plus unlimited Viber Chat services without the need for Wi-Fi or additional data charges.

Subscribers who want a full Viber experience can also avail themselves of unlimited Viber Calls and Chat for only P20 a day and get access to Viber’s high-definition voice calls. For as low as P10, the budget-conscious subscribers can still enjoy a whole day of Viber Chat with friends.

“Our Viber bundles and promos will allow our customers to enjoy Viber however they want—whether bundled with their call and text services, or as a separate Viber data promo, to connect with their families and friends, not only within the same network, but also with other networks here and abroad,” Bithos said in the statement.
