‘Worry Free’ Day for kids with rare disorders

A total of 13 children from Cebu and nearby provinces were the beneficiaries of a “Worry Free Day” at SM City Cebu Storyland last June 30. The children suffer a lifelong genetic, degenerative rare disorder.

Digital imaging firm Canon supported the project, together with other partners and sponsors.

The children, accompanied by their parents, were treated to free rides, video games, loot bags filled with snacks and toys courtesy of SM City Cebu and its locators.

In project ‘Rare Moments’, some of the children experienced for the first time the magical world of SM’s storyland, World of Fun and Bibo.

The children also learned how to pose for pictures in a photo advocacy workshop initiated by Photography with a Difference (PWD). Volunteers from the Cebu Digital Photographers took photos of the children laughing with their parents.

The photos, through the support of Canon, will be displayed at the SM City Cebu photo exhibit entitled “Rare Moments at Storyland” on Aug. 24 to 30 to create public awareness.

The awareness campaign is made possible through the collaborative efforts of several sponsors and donors such as Golden Bowl, Kettle Korn, Crème D-Light, Goldilocks, McDonalds, Hannah’s Balloon, Sparkles and Yakult.

Canon Marketing (Philippines) has established itself as a socially responsible corporate citizen with advocacy of supporting socio-civic projects such as the worry free day for children with rare disorders.
