VILLAGE CHIEF’S BROD NABBED FOR DRUGS

ANTI-drug agents arrested the brother of a barangay captain in a buy-bust operation in Lapu-Lapu City.

Packs of suspected shabu worth P100,000 were seized during the arrest of Erlandie Oyao, who is the brother of Agus barangay captain Remigio Oyao.

Erlandie was allegedly repacking illegal drugs when the poseur-buyer arrived in his house, said Jessie Tabanao, information officer of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7).

Erlandie was arrested after he handed over a big pack of suspected shabu worth P25,000 to a poseur-buyer.

Tabanao said 54 small packs of suspected shabu and two big packs believed to contain cocaine were recovered from the house.

Oyao was described as a level one drug pusher who could dispose of more than a P1 million worth of shabu a week.

The suspect allegedly sold illegal drugs in the cities of Mandaue and Cebu.

Tabanao said Oyao was previously arrested for the distribution of illegal drugs but the he was released after the case was dimissed.  /CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON

AMERICAN LOSES CASH

AN AMERICAN national reported to the police that he lost at least P150,000 cash and valuables worth P30,000 in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

John Sullivan, 65, said that the cash, his mobile phone and a digital camera were stolen from a Mitsubishi Canter.

The American told police that he parked the vehicle by the roadside while he and his Filipina wife bought a car battery from a store on M.C. Briones Street.

Sullivan said the items were already missing when they returned to the car.

The victim said he forgot to lock the door in the driver’s side.  /REPORTER JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS

MAN HURT IN DANAO SHOOTING

A 31-YEAR-OLD man was shot and wounded by his neighbor in barangay Sabang, Danao City, northern Cebu.

Police said personal grudge might have driven Philip June Obarte to shoot Shervin Lawas Gica.

Gica sustained gunshot wounds in the left arm and body. He was rushed to Danao Provincial Hospital but was later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City for further treatment.

The suspect remains at large.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim was repairing his house when Obarte arrived and shot him using an unknown caliber of a firearm past 11 a.m. last Monday. /Correspondent Joy Cherry S. Quito
