LUCENA CITY, Philippines—A woman who was abducted in Makati City last Sunday and taken to the town of Unisan in Quezon escaped while one of her kidnappers fell asleep and asked someone to take her to the police,  a Quezon police official said Tuesday.

Senior Superintendent Dionardo Carlos, Quezon police chief, said the victim, identified only as “Karen,” 21, a hotel employee, escaped early Monday and sought the help of a local resident who led her to the police. One of her two abductors was arrested on Monday and the second on Tuesday.

According to Carlos the victim boarded a taxi in Makati City last Sunday. The driver, identified as Eduardo Sarabosing Jr., then stopped at the corner of Buendia and Edsa to allow his accomplice, Sam Aumentado, who was hiding in the trunk,  to get inside the taxi and secure the victim.

Police said Aumentado pointed a knife at the victim and demanded P20,000. The victim surrendered her two ATM cards and withdrew cash somewhere in Laguna.

As the vehicle was travelling to Unisan, the hometown of Sarabosing, Aumentado groped intimate parts of her body, police said.

The victim was taken to a house in a wooded section of Barangay Pagaguasan in Unisan while Aumentado left for Manila to return the taxi to its owner.

“Karen” escaped early Monday when Sarabosing fell asleep, police said, and sought the help of a local resident who accompanied her to the police stations.

Sarabosing was arrested by Unisan police later that same day while Aumentado was arrested in Las Piñas City early Tuesday morning, Carlos said.
