THE BATTLE lines have been drawn and something has got to give today as the reigning champions, San Beda Red Lions, take on their chief rivals, San Sebastian Stags, today in the 87th NCAA basketball tournament over at the Arena in San Juan City.

The two teams are on incredible winning streaks, more so the Red Lions, who have remained unbeaten in 26 straight games dating back to their 18-game romp of the NCAA last season.

The Stags, on the other hand, have also shown their intention to get back the crown they last hoisted in 2009 as they have proven to be tough customers in eight straight games this year.

The Stags will lean on the prolific threesome known as the “Pinatubo Trio” composed of Ronald Pascual, Ian Sangalang and Calvin Abueva.

The Red Lions are expected to counter with Garvo Lanete, Rome dela Rosa, Jake Pascual and a host of capable role players. Correspondent Jonas Panerio
