Man nabbed for assaulting cop, Canadian
A 24-YEAR-OLD man is facing a string of charges after he allegedly boxed a Canadian man and assaulted a policeman in a hotel in barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City.
Alonso Gonzaga Jr., 24, a native of Escalante, Negros Occidental, was drunk during the incident, police said.
Police investigation showed that Gonzaga went to the Pusok Police Station on Friday night to seek help.
Gonzaga asked the police to accompany him to the Bellavista Hotel to pick up his 20-year-old sister whom he said was brought there by Canadian national Eric William Hey, 39.
Police said the Canadian and Gonzaga’s sister were lovers.
At the hotel lobby, Gonzaga confronted Hey and punched him in the face.

Article continues after this advertisementTorres’ fellow policemen subdued Gonzaga, who was later detained.
Police said Gonzaga will be charged with alarm and scandal, physical injury, direct assault and drunkenness.
