THE FORMIDABLE Letran Knights try for the solo lead in the standings when they duke it out against the equally dangerous Jose Rizal University (JRU) Heavy Bombers in the main offing of Season 89 of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament today at the Arena in San Juan City.

The Knights, winners of their first two games, face a Bombers squad that lost their last game against the University of Perpetual Help Altas, 70-78.

Letran, led by Raymund Almazan, beat San Sebastian in its first game, 74-79, and then, survived the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, 79-74, in its the next outing.

A win today will give the Knights a comfortable lead in the standings early in the collegiate tournament.

In the first game, the high-scoring Mapua Cardinals, featuring two of the league’s top scorers in Kenneth Ighalo and Joseph Eriobu, tangle with the Lyceum Pirates.
