New brand, beautification to attract more tourists, investors to Lapu-Lapu

IN its effort to attract more tourists and investors to Lapu-Lapu City, Mayor Paz Radaza said she will appoint a beautification czar before the month ends.

In her inaugural address last Wednesday, Radaza said the city government rolled out a few weeks ago an “activity to create a brand so we can market the city to investors and tourists.”

She challenged fellow Oponganons “to live up to the brand promise of how the city is going to present itself.”

She, however, did not spell out the new marketing strategy of the city except saying “We are almost there.”

Part of this new marketing strategy, the mayor said is the appointment of a person who will oversee the beautification and branding of the city. Without naming names, she said the person will come from the private sector.

Radaza, who just started her second term as mayor, said Lapu-Lapu City is actively participating in Cebu’s bid to host the 2015 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit.

“At the very least we expect to host some of the many ministerial meetings,” Radaza said.

“We must work on it now. We have to show them that Lapu-Lapu City is ready for the world,” she added.

The Apec is the premier economic forum in the Asia Pacific. Its primary goal is to support sustainable economic growth and prosperity in the region which includes 21 countries in the North and South America, Asia and Australia.
