Former OFW found dead

A FORMER Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) was found dead in an apparent case of suicide in Cebu City.

The body of Roderick Cañete, 41, was already decomposing when he was found in a room of a pension house in Don Julio Llorente Street.

A .22 magnum revolver was recovered near the body.

Police believed that the man had been dead for more than 72 hours.

Since the body was already decomposing, it was not immediately known what kind of injuries the fatality had.

Cañete checked in at the pension house around 1 p.m. last July 1.

Pension house staffers said they didn’t see Cañete leave his room since he checked in.

A stench emanating from the victim’s room caused workers to forcibly open the room’s door.

Cañete was found lifeless on the floor.

A letter believed to have been written by Cañete was found in the room.

In the note, the man expressed his frustration of not being with his parents.

Police said the man’s parents had separated.
