MANILA, Philippines — The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines has reshuffled its area and airport managers nationwide, citing the ongoing “restructuring” in the agency.
Among those transferred was Davao International Airport area manager Frederick San Felix, who was charged before the Office of the Ombudsman-Mindanao by former Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte for the alleged mishandling of the emergency response to the runway accident involving a Cebu Pacific plane in June.
The accident led to the closure of the airport for two days and reportedly cost the city more than P250 million in economic losses.
San Felix was transferred to the Iloilo City airport. He will be replaced by Agnes Udang, the former manager of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
The revamp order, which took effect last Monday, was signed by Deputy Director General John Andrews, CAAP officer-in-charge.
Aside from San Felix and Udang, other newly designated area and airport managers were Demetrio Apolinar, who was assigned to Laoag; Demetrio Apolinar, Laoag; Ronald Estabillo, Tuguegarao; Eduardo Lansang, Plaridel in Bulacan; Cynthia Tumanut, Palawan; Antonio Alfonso, Legazpi; Arnel Borlado, Cebu; Efren Nagrama, Tacloban; Danilo Abarreta, Zamboanga; Evangeline Babate, Butuan; Jose Budiongan, Laguindingan in Cagayan de Oro; Emmanuel Costelo, Pagadian; and Celso Bayabos, Ozamiz.
Designated officers-in-charge at the airports in Surigao and Calbayog were Rodolfo Collantes and Diorico Elema.
Assigned to the CAAP central office were Naga Rascal and Roy Gamosa, who will be reporting to the Aerodrome Development and Management Service; and Egon Nile Jordan, who will be reporting to the Flight Service Inspectorate Service.
