MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine National Police said Tuesday it is likely to redesign its uniform within the year.

Speaking to reporters, PNP chief, Director General Alan Purisima said it is looking at using a lighter shade of blue so as to make it easier on the eyes.

Purisima also said that he wanted to change the texture of the fabric to be used, and instead go for a softer kind so that police officers will be more comfortable to move around.

“The headgears will also be redesigned,” the official said.

With this, Purisima said a fashion event tagged: “Cop Walk” is set to be held Thursday evening at the national headquarters of PNP in Camp Crame, Quezon City which will showcase design proposals for the uniform.

He said there will be 16 sets of uniform designs to be modelled in the competition.

The show will start around 6 p.m.

Purisima, however, clarified that it doesn’t necessarily follow that the winning proposal will already be the final design, as it would still undergo changes if found necessary.
