It’s been more than a week since the failed ambush of Dr. Rico Medina Jr. and his family but no charges have been filed yet against the suspected perpetrators.
Chief Insp. Romeo Santander, head of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said the police have been diligent in their efforts to solve the case but the victims have been uncooperative.
“Give and take lang unta,” Santander said.
Santander said they have already identified four individuals suspected to be behind the attack but they couldn’t file charges against them without the affidavits of the victims.
Medina and his family have yet to appear before the CIB.
Santander said some information that the police have gathered from the victims were coursed through the Medinas’ legal counsel.
Last June 24, at least four gunmen fired shots at a Toyota Fortuner SUV carrying Medina, his wife Arlene, son Benjie, and bodyguard Allan Dake in barangay Labangon.
The victims escaped unharmed.
Medina is reportedly an investor of the Aman Futures pyramiding scam.
Police have said that Medina identified one of the assailants as member of the controversial group./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
