The National Capital Region posted the highest number of index crimes (murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery and theft) among the country’s regions in February 2013. During this period, there were 4,984 crimes against persons and property in Metro Manila, or about 21 percent of the total 23,668 recorded index crimes nationwide.—Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
