JVR wants humane Talisay City gov’t

Talisay City Mayor Johnny V. Delos Reyes has ordered City Hall employees to be compassionate to less fortunate Talisaynons who seek assistance from the government.

Delos Reyes attended his first flag-raising ceremony as local chief executive at around 8:00 a.m. at the City Hall grounds together with the city councilors, department heads, police and fire officers and job order employees.

In his message, Delos Reyes admits to having mixed feelings with his new role. “Nabahin ang akong kasing-kasing, ang katunga kalipay ug ang katunga kasubo kay daghan gihapong mga tao ang wa makatrabaho, naghuwat sa ilang mga punch card aron matawag nga job order employee,” JVR said. (I am happy and sad because many people are still looking for jobs, some waiting to be called as job order employees of the city government.)

The new mayor gave three orders to local government employees in his first day of office.

First, give assistance to the poor people. Do not deprive them. The government employee’s job is to give the best service to the public.

Second, no ghost employees. “I don’t want to see  fly by night employees who will be seen only on paydays. I will not hesitate to fire you on the job.” Third, police officers and traffic enforcers should not engage in abusive acts. /Gabriel C. Bonjoc, Correspondent
